Great read! It is true that most new artists I’ve discovered were from insta reels (like from putyouon). Radio does not cut it anymore since they only promote artists from major record labels or when they become big enough. One thing I do like is Apple music radio with Zane Lowe. His team really does a good job finding new artists and promote them before they become huge. I feel like smaller venues and last minute pop ups have become really popular among Dj.
Zane is awesome- I'm very inspired by Zane. He's a legend! Also, yes these intimiate shows for core fans are an amazing unlock for artists- next week i'll break down how I'm thinking about them
